Why Britain's Most Famous TV Physicist Is Taking His Universe to YouTube
Professor Brian Cox has partnered with Sony Pictures Television's digital studio to develop original science and astronomy formats specifically built for online audiences.

British physicist and broadcaster Professor Brian Cox has entered into an original content partnership with Sony Pictures Television's digital studio unit to develop programming directly for online audiences.
Announced on October 5, 2026, the collaboration focuses on original formats spanning science, astronomy, and culture tailored for digital platforms, including YouTube.
Expanding Sony's Digital Roster
The agreement is the second major talent pact for Sony Pictures Television's UK-based digital studio. The unit is co-led by Sacha Khari, senior vice president of creative, and Matt Ford, vice president of commercial digital—both former executives at Channel 4 and BBC Studios.
The digital division established its first creator partnership in April 2026 with Minecraft creator Tom Simons, known as TommyInnit. Cox previously appeared alongside Stephen Fry as a guest on Simons' studio-produced YouTube series, 100 Questions with Tom Simons.
Cox already holds more than 16,000 subscribers on his personal YouTube channel. According to reporting from Deadline, the new pact aims to build an ongoing online destination that pairs traditional television production standards with digital creator formats, rather than delivering standalone one-off series.
Focus on Digital Science Audiences
Cox noted that the project is designed to broaden access to factual and educational material across digital spaces.
"It is more important than ever to find new and engaging ways to bring science and factual content to audiences wherever they consume it," Cox said in a statement. "This partnership with the team at Sony Pictures Television is hugely exciting for me because we share the desire to make high-quality, intellectually challenging, informative and entertaining content available to as many people as possible, across as many platforms as possible."
He added: "We succeed if our audience is equally entertained, challenged, frightened, excited and astonished by the dazzling picture of the universe painted by modern science."
Launch Details Pending
Sony Pictures Television has not disclosed the financial terms or duration of the deal. Specific titles, channel plans, and release dates for the upcoming formats have also not yet been announced.
Khari and Ford stated that the collaboration reflects the studio's strategy of building sustainable digital audiences around distinctive talent.
