Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has launched an online petition demanding social media reform following the death of Kenan "Ken" Urker. The Change.org campaign, titled "Kenan's Law: Hold Social Media Platforms Accountable for How They Handle Online Harassment Reports," launched Sunday after Blanchard posted an appeal on Instagram.

Urker was found dead at a residence in Raceland, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, his 34th birthday. Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the residence at approximately 6:15 p.m. Law enforcement located drug paraphernalia and a brown powdery substance at the scene. Media reports of police incident details also noted a handgun and a blood-stained paper towel near Urker's arm. The Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office stated that there is currently no definitive cause of death, and the case remains open pending toxicology testing.

The Push for Kenan's Law

Blanchard, 35, stated that Urker faced intense online harassment across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Reddit before his death. She claimed they repeatedly flagged abusive content to major platforms, only to receive automated replies stating there was "no violation."

"I know what it felt like to report content we believed constituted harassment and repeatedly be told there was 'no violation,'" Blanchard said. "Ken's passing has made me determined to turn pain into purpose. I cannot change what happened, but I can advocate for a better system for the next person who feels like no one is listening. Fame does not erase humanity."

The proposal, framed as the Online Harassment Reporting and Accountability Act, calls for key policy changes across social networks:

  • Permitting users to report coordinated harassment campaigns collectively rather than flagging single posts.
  • Requiring human review for reported harassment cases.
  • Mandating platforms preserve digital evidence when harassment reports are filed.
  • Establishing clear appeals processes for moderation decisions.

Blanchard noted the proposal is not designed to restrict free speech. "Public figures can and should be criticized, but public figures are still human beings, and fame should never erase someone's humanity," she said.

Pending Findings and Status

Urker and Blanchard share a daughter, Aurora, whose age has been alternately reported by outlets as 16 months and 21 months. Blanchard told People magazine she suspected Urker died of an overdose after experiencing severe distress and heavy drinking. Authorities have not determined whether his death was accidental or intentional.

News coverage has described Urker's relationship with Blanchard at the time of his death variously as partner, fiancé, or ex-fiancé. Blanchard noted her final phone call with him occurred on September 28, three days before he was found.

Within hours of launching on October 4, the Change.org petition grew from 382 signatures to more than 900. Kenan's Law has not yet received formal legislative sponsorship from lawmakers.
