MBC Studios has scheduled the theatrical debut of the psychological horror thriller Traveller's Hell for November 19, 2026. The film is the first completed project under a multi-year creative partnership between the Saudi media company and bestselling author Osamah Almuslim.

Adapting 'Jahim Al-Abirin'

The feature adapts Almuslim's bestselling Arabic novel Jahim Al-Abirin. Almuslim wrote the adapted screenplay, collaborating with director Hana Alomair, who makes her feature directorial debut. Alomair, creative director at MBC Studios, previously co-wrote and directed the 2020 Netflix Saudi original series Whispers.

Shot entirely on location in Saudi Arabia, the film follows a young woman driving alone late at night on an isolated mountain road. After offering a ride to a stranded male motorist, she finds herself trapped when he turns out to be a dangerous figure, setting off a night of psychological terror.

Cast and Production Background

The ensemble cast includes Adwa Bader, Basil Alsole, Mohammed Ali, Shojaat Nashat, and Aziz Gharbawi. The adaptation was first announced in December 2024 as part of a pact between MBC Studios and Almuslim to bring several of his literary works to film and television.

Upon announcing the partnership, Almuslim noted that the project marks the start of bringing his decade of fictional worldbuilding to regional audiences on screen. Alomair stated she aimed to explore Almuslim's mix of suspense, mystery, horror, and regional traditions within the developing Saudi cinematic landscape.

Theatrical Rollout

According to reporting from Deadline, the film is scheduled to open in Saudi Arabian cinemas first before expanding across wider Arab markets. Saudi Arabia lifted its commercial cinema ban in 2017, prompting steady expansion in local theatrical releases.

MBC Studios has not yet announced international release dates outside the Arab region or details concerning eventual streaming availability.
