NBA 2K25 Is Disappearing Soon and Taking Single-Player Modes With It
Digital storefronts will pull NBA 2K25 on October 30, 2026, ahead of a December server shutdown that permanently locks out MyCAREER and MyTEAM.

Digital storefronts will stop selling NBA 2K25 on October 30, 2026, followed by a permanent server shutdown on December 31, 2026. The cutoff will also disable access to the game's MyCAREER and MyTEAM modes.
The Shutdown Timeline
Publisher 2K confirmed the schedule in an official support update. The removal from digital storefronts affects PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
Servers will remain active through December 31, 2026. Beginning January 1, 2027, players will no longer be able to play multiplayer matches, access online modes, or earn Virtual Currency (VC).
Modes Affected
Because MyCAREER and MyTEAM require server connectivity and VC systems, both modes will become completely unplayable once servers close. Outlets covering the announcement noted player backlash over losing access to MyCAREER progression roughly two years after launch.
According to TrueAchievements, the closure will also make achievements tied to online features and discontinued modes unobtainable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Remaining Offline Features
Existing digital owners will retain the ability to redownload and install the title. 2K confirmed that supported offline modes will remain accessible, including Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA. Server-dependent features, such as Online Leagues and community sharing, will be disabled.
The impact is steeper on Nintendo Switch. As reported by Nintendo Life, the Switch version lacks MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA, leaving only the basic Play Now mode playable after the shutdown.
The Delisting Cycle
NBA 2K25 launched on September 6, 2024. A two-year lifecycle is standard practice for the annual basketball series, driven by developer resources shifting to newer entries and expiring third-party brand and likeness licenses.
