Love and Deepspace Devs Issue Safety Warning Over Toxic Cocktail Recipes

Infold Games has cautioned players of its mobile otome RPG Love and Deepspace not to recreate cocktail recipes published across its official social media channels after two recipes included toxic plants as garnishes.

The issue stems from a social media promotion tied to the in-game Moonlit Reserve event, which launched on September 22, 2026. As part of a tie-in for the A Sip of Splendour mini-game, official accounts shared five character-themed Shimmering Blend drink recipes. Two of those recipes featured real, poisonous botanical ingredients.

Toxic Botanicals in Promotional Recipes

The drink tied to character Rafayel, titled Artsyblobbu, combined sweet peach juice, gelatin sheets, and a Flame Lily (Gloriosa superba) garnish. Flame Lily contains colchicine, which is hazardous to humans and animals and can be fatal if ingested.

A second drink tied to character Sylus, called Fiendyblobbu, combined crimson pomegranate juice, cinnamon, and a Datura garnish. Datura contains tropane alkaloids and is likewise hazardous to humans and animals, carrying a risk of fatal poisoning if consumed.

The marketing team reportedly selected Flame Lily and Datura because both plants serve as lore-based symbols for Rafayel and Sylus, respectively.

Community Reaction and Developer Notice

Because the Love and Deepspace fandom regularly recreates food and beverages from the game in real life, critics and players raised immediate concerns regarding the risk of accidental poisoning. Online commenters warned others against preparing the drinks, with one commenter quoted as saying, "Delete this. This is literal poison. Nobody make this."

An X (formerly Twitter) Community Note was attached to the post warning that the plants are poisonous and should not be used in real drinks. Some players alleged the recipe copy may have been generated by AI without safety oversight, though it remains unconfirmed whether the post was produced by generative AI or written internally by human marketing staff.

Sources disagree on the timing of the original post: IGN reported the initial promotion appeared on September 28, 2026, whereas Dexerto and GosuGamers dated the post to September 29, 2026.

On September 30, 2026, the official Love and Deepspace account published a safety disclaimer: "Safety Notice: All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality."

It remains uncertain whether any player gathered the ingredients or attempted to consume the cocktails before or after the warnings. The Moonlit Reserve event and its player feedback survey are scheduled to conclude on October 10, 2026.
