Benchmark listings for Huawei's Mate 90 Pro Max have surfaced on Geekbench 7, providing performance figures for the Kirin 9050 Pro processor. Tested under model number CMM-AL10, the device averaged 1,317 in single-core and 5,381 in multi-core testing according to aggregated data published by GSMArena, with peak scores reaching 1,528 and 6,169 respectively.

An earlier benchmark run reported by Notebookcheck recorded lower scores of 1,117 in single-core and 5,076 in multi-core. Notebookcheck suggested that entry may have run through the DroiTong translation container, though the performance overhead from running Android-based Geekbench builds on HarmonyOS remains unverified.

9-Core Topology and Maleoon 955 Graphics

Geekbench records detail an uncommon 9-core CPU structure. The Kirin 9050 Pro features one ultra core clocked at 3.1 GHz, six performance cores divided between 2.7 GHz and 2.2 GHz clusters, and two efficiency cores at 1.75 GHz. Graphics are driven by a 6-core Maleoon 955 GPU running at 1.05 GHz. Preliminary database listings had previously pointed to an octa-core setup with a Maleoon 935F GPU.

Benchmark Positioning and Reported Gains

The Kirin 9050 Pro's raw CPU output places it between Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. A report from Bernstein Research characterized the chip's design as an "underestimated breakthrough," noting its Geekbench 6 multi-core output surpasses Apple's A17 Pro, while single-core scores trail Apple's A20 Pro by roughly 30%. Bernstein also linked the chip's density to a "LogicFolding" 3D stacking architecture, attributing roughly 238 million transistors per square millimeter to the design.

Reports citing ITHome claim the Kirin 9050 Pro delivers a 23% increase in multi-core CPU output, a 40% jump in GPU rendering speed, and a 140% boost in NPU performance compared to its predecessor.

Model Allocation and Fabrication Node

Discrepancies remain regarding chipset allocation across the lineup. While Geekbench logs tie the Kirin 9050 Pro directly to the Mate 90 Pro Max, TrendForce reported the Pro silicon would remain exclusive to the Mate 90 RS and Collector's Edition, with the base Pro Max receiving the standard Kirin 9050.

Huawei launched the Mate 90 series in China on October 1, starting at 9,499 yuan for the Mate 90 Pro Max with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Huawei has not confirmed the underlying manufacturing process, though analysts attribute production to SMIC's 7nm-class N+2 or N+3 fabrication nodes.
