Google has increased the retail price of the Pixel 10a by $100 in the United States, shifting the base model from $499 to $599 without a formal announcement. The price hike is live on the Google Store and across major third-party retailers including Amazon and Best Buy, roughly seven months after the phone launched.

Mid-Generation Price Adjustment

The base 128GB Pixel 10a now retails for $599, while the 256GB configuration climbed from $599 to $699. The increase follows a promotional discount in September 2026, when Google briefly discounted the phone to $424.

International storefronts saw similar increases after adjustments first appeared on Google's regional store in Japan. In Canada, the phone rose from $679 CAD to $849 CAD, while UK pricing increased from £499 to £599. Reports on European pricing conflict, with listings citing new tags of either €599 or €649. Following the change, retailer Walmart briefly listed remaining stock at the original $499 price.

Component Costs Drive Price Shifts

The revision comes amid escalating DRAM and memory component costs driven by high demand for data center infrastructure and artificial intelligence hardware. The Pixel 10a is powered by Google's Tensor G4 processor and 8GB of RAM.

Google previously introduced a $100 price increase across its flagship Pixel 11 series in August 2026, noting at the time that existing in-market Pixel phones could eventually face price pressure. Whether Google plans to raise prices on other current hardware models remains unconfirmed.

Broad Industry Pressure

Rising memory expenses are affecting other manufacturers as well. Samsung recently implemented price increases ranging from $30 to $70 across its mid-range Galaxy A series alongside increases to its flagship Galaxy S26 lineup, raising the competing Galaxy A57 5G to $599.99.

Addressing the potential for smartphone pricing pressure across the sector, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that it is “too early to come to a definitive conclusion of what happens there. Because it takes a little while for the channels to adjust since there's channel inventory, it takes a while for the consumer to respond. We'll understand that more in the weeks ahead.”

Industry projections diverge on how long component constraints will persist, with forecasts for normalized memory pricing ranging from mid-2027 to 2030.
